I am biking across the country for the chance to explore new places, the physical challenge of the ride, and the opportunity to learn more about affordable housing.
I grew up moving around, and I love discovering new places. My favorite days are ones when I meet new people, engage in meaningful conversations and learn more about the world I live in. This trip will take me to eight new states and many new kinds of communities. We will spend nights in farming towns, big cities, and ‘blink and you missed it’ villages. Every day we will have opportunities to explore the swimming hole by the side of the road, the diner nearby and the local supermarket. Each time, we will be able to talk with people about affordable housing and learn about their environments.
I love being outdoors, and I am excited about the physical challenge of biking 70-80 miles a day. I have run marathons and hiked all day, but this will be a new kind of ‘in-shape’.
I also recognize that affordable housing problem is a serious, often neglected problem in the United States, and I want to be part of a group that is addressing the issue.
